Development and writing play a cardinal role in The MOFET Institute, and their importance resides both in the products of the activity in the field and in the process that the developers and the writers undergo. The objectives and products of the development and writing activities are defined with reference to the changing needs of the teacher education system, and in the next few years they will undoubtedly be influenced by the onset of the second stage of the academization (university based study) of the colleges (M.Ed.).
There are three main series of publications: TAMA [theory and practice in teacher education], KLIL and Monographs in Education.
|
- To place corpora of knowledge in diverse modes of expression at the disposal of the teacher education and general education systems.
- To enable the teachers at the colleges to conceptualize their theoretical and practical knowledge, to transform it into accumulated knowledge, and to share it with their colleagues in the profession.
- To give free rein to the identity and professional development of the teacher educators by means of platforms for the publication of articles and books they have written (an academic journal, theoretical and didactic literature, monographs, discussion papers) and of websites they have developed.

TAMA – Theory and practice in teacher education
At The MOFET Institute, institutional and inter-institutional teams develop and write texts combining theory and practice in the fields of the various disciplines, pedagogy, didactics, methodology and the practicum in teaching as well as in topics concerning social education and the current affairs of Israeli society.
The members of the writing teams are mostly teachers at the colleges who take a certain amount of time off their jobs to this end. The book publishing system accompanies the writers for two years in the work process – from the writing stages, via the external evaluation by expert readers, to the language editing, production and marketing of the books. The products of the writing teams are published in the framework of the TAMA series.
|
- The aim of publishing the books in the TAMA series is to create corpora of knowledge that combine theory and didactics by means of products that have been developed in the last two to three years and the establishment of new writing teams. The books that will be written and published will deal with the following fields:
- New perceptions and innovative programs in the field of teacher education;
- The fields of knowledge that are studied in teacher education and interdisciplinary topics;
- The development of thinking in the various fields of knowledge and in various topics;
- Academic erudition;
- General education of the student teachers;
- The value-based and social dimension in teacher education;
- Current objectives and needs of the entire education system.
- The Publishing House will afford a means of expression for the heterogeneity of the writers and for the methods of writing, and will help in the formation and upholding of various approaches in writing the books: the positivistic approach, the use of case stories, narrative writing, and so on.
- The Publishing House will work toward combining traditional writing and writing that utilizes the new technologies by expanding cooperation with the department that deals with the Development of Online Environments.

This is a platform for the publication of studies performed by teachers in the colleges of education. The editorial board consists of members of MOFET's Research Authority, the Department for the Development of Teaching Units, and the Dapim journal. The monographs are submitted to the editorial board in a form that is suitable for publication; alternatively, a research report accompanied by a proposal for expanding it into a monograph is submitted.
Once a monograph has been selected by the editorial board, it undergoes external refereeing. This framework is still being consolidated.

The aim of the KLIL series is to publish books on educational and pedagogical topics written independently by teacher educators at Israel's colleges and universities. This outlet serves both the in-service teachers, who need a regular supply of up-to-date materials, and the writers, for whom the production of a book constitutes an important part of their professional development.

| Dapim - General information |
|
Twice a year, MOFET publishes Dapim, a Hebrew-language journal that meets recognized international academic standards. The journal provides a literary, academic, and research forum for topics in teacher education and education in general. Every article that is accepted for publication is evaluated by referees who express their critical opinion of the article. Their comments are then passed on to the writers. In addition to the external evaluation process, the accepted articles undergo language editing and graphic design.
